If there’s one craft you can get addicted to it’s resin. The popularity of DIY resin keeps rising and it’s easy to see why – the results are extraordinary, the technique is fun to do and the projects are versatile; there are so many craft ideas you can do with resin that once you get started you won’t want to stop!

From home décor, homeware and jewellery to furniture, almost anything can be set in resin and hardener. Scroll through Instagram and you’ll see hundreds of images of resin objects set with everything from dried flowers to shells, and glitter, they are a great gift idea. The secret to working with resin is having the right moulds. The shapes and designs of what you can make are endless. There’s a colourful side of the craft too where mica powders or alcohol inks are combined with marbling techniques using a heat gun to create beautiful works of resin art.

Before you get started with pour resins there are several considerations and number one is safety. Resin craft should only be used in well-ventilated rooms, it’s essential to wear gloves when working with resin due to the chemicals in it and respirator masks are recommended so you don’t breath in fumes from the curing process. It’s also important to cover surfaces and wear an apron when you’re working with resin.
