The Idaho Commission on the Arts recently awarded Caroline Earley, professor in the Department of Art, Design and Visual Studies, a 2023 Fellowship in Visual Arts along with two other Idaho Artists. The awards, given every two years by the Idaho Commission on the Arts, recognizes outstanding artists, honoring work deemed to exhibit the highest artistic merit during peer review. Panelists from out of state review applications anonymously in a highly competitive process which judges existing work and professional history. The Idaho State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts provide funding for the fellowship.

Additionally, Earley attended the Clay Gulgong Festival in New South Wales, Australia, in April of 2022 as an invited master. The internationally recognized festival, a top event in world ceramics, regularly brings national and international artists.

“It’s been a real honor to be selected for the Visual Arts Fellowship and as a master for the international ceramic arts festival, Clay Gulgong this year,” Earley said.  “The Idaho Commission on the Arts has been very supportive of my work and I feel grateful to have been given this award. I’ve also always wanted to participate in Clay Gulgong and was excited to receive the invitation.”

While at the festival, Earley took part in a demonstration with Roz Hall, a recent graduate from the Australian National University.
