The label's first tableware collection was made in collaboration with renowned Korean ceramist Hye-Rin Yang.

Beloved direct-to-consumer kitchenware label Material has been making covetable kitchen essentials since its inception back in 2018. Their first launch of kitchen essentials included The Coated Pan and The Soft-Edge Turner, both of which received so much praise they sold out within days.

Now, the brand has set its sight on tableware, launching its first ceramic tabletop collection yesterday. Korean-American cofounder Eunice Byun was inspired to create a collection that uplifts the creativity of Asian females, in part as a response to the alarming surge in violence against theAAPI Community and Asian-American women specifically.

"As a Korean-American founder and CEO, it is not simply about a new collection the brand is launching. It is about seeing [my] fellow Asian sisters, leading in the space they occupy," Byun expressed in a press statement.

The collection is a collaborative effort that includes the work of three Asian women creatives: Korean ceramic designer Hye-Rin Yang of Soil Baker made the pieces; Daeun Kim, a Korean-American photographer captured the collection, and Veronica del Rosario, the Filipino-American founder of branding company the Feelings Group, conceived the vision for the collection.

The line features four different shapes and two shades, Dune and Grotto. All of the pieces were hand-thrown by ceramic artist Yang and made with Korean soil—giving them a grainy shade that changes slightly with the lighting. Additionally, all of the pieces are microwave-safe, dishwasher-safe and are made appropriately to endure everyday wear and tear.

Prices for this collection range from a set of the Half Plates for $60 to a set of four Full Plates for $155.

To continue its support of the AAPI community, Material will be donating 50 percent of its profits to Hate Is a Virus's Community Action Fund from March 24 through March 31.
