Perhaps the most famous musical widow of all time, Yoko Ono has released a new art project for people and fans to buy, called "John Patch", following the new Disney+ documentary series of her late husband’s famous band: The Beatles Band: Come back.

Available from Whitechapel Gallery HERE (and shipped in December), this piece is creative and thoughtful, expressing hope and possibility even in the face of sadness and death.

Essentially, this piece is composed of a broken ceramic cup, glue and ribbon, one can put them together and feel the satisfaction of building something rather than destroying it.

The Whitechapel website wrote: “During her Whitechapel gallery exhibition, visitors were invited to respond to Yoko Ono’s instructions; to enter the gallery, please sit at a table on which there are fragments of ceramic cups and saucers and some Simple repair materials-scissors, glue, twine and tape.

"Once the'repair' is completed, visitors will be invited to display the results of their efforts along the shelves on the wall. This version is considered an extension of the exhibition at the Ono White Church Gallery."

According to the art website, Yoko first proposed this idea in 1966. It was the same exhibition where Ono and Lennon met on November 9, 1966. She was preparing for the exhibition, and gallery owner John Dunbar introduced them.

Ono has always been the core figure of the Beatles: back, during the band rehearsal, he sat directly next to Lennon, quietly, but always appeared in the three-part series of nearly eight hours of footage.

The Whitechapel website continued: “Ono presented this work for the first time in her solo exhibition at the Indica Gallery in London in 1966, as Mending Piece I, a well-known counter-cultural art center. The exhibition is titled “Indica Sub: Unfinished paintings and objects", almost every work in the exhibition is designed to be completed through the behavior of visitors.

"This guidance-based work has made Ono an important figure in the development of Fluxus and conceptual art. Since then, her extensive career has spanned acting, writing, visual arts, experimental music, and film. Commitment to participation and collaboration It also provides a basis for the ongoing and tireless movement of peace and non-violence.

"Mend Piece For John, (1968/2021), is related to the version created by the artist in 1968. This version contains the same instructions and poems as the original, but combines different materials, and is designed for Ono's Whitechapel Gallery version .

"Mend Piece For John and MEND PIECE for London both draw on the Japanese kintsugi tradition, which is an art of repairing damaged pottery using lacquer mixed with precious metals such as gold and silver. This process takes damage as an important part of the history of an object. Part, rather than trying to hide it. In this artwork, the physical act of repair becomes a timely metaphor, representing a different type of repair that takes place in thought and through the community."

Ono said on Twitter, "Yoko Ono repaired a piece for John, (1968/2021) broken ceramic cup, glue in metal tube, digital printing on paper, cotton thread, ribbon, plastic bag, box: 17.8 × 17.8 × 5.2 cm 100 edition, with artist seal certificate. https://shop.whitechapelgallery.org/products/yoko-"

Earlier, Ono also shared an article from Uproxx that she was not the one who disbanded the Beatles. After the new documentary series, people naturally reconsidered her role in the demise of Fab Four.
